As a means to prevent the spread of the Covid-19 infection, the store was held after each of the three masses in order to keep numbers down. The event coincided with the mass for children celebrating their coming 3, 5 and 7 years of age. Two masses for this event were held and the children dressed up in their gorgeous attire.
At this bazaar every year, there is an extremely lively atmosphere with large number of people attending. However, this year with only such a small number of people, we were able enjoy each other’s company more. So, in this sense, there were some advantages despite the restrictions. It would seem that we were also able to sow small seeds amongst the local people as some of the general public also stopped by and bought from the sidewalk. We were also blessed with the weather, and the children's attire shined out against the blue sky and made a large impact on our hearts!
Despite being a small event, you could feel the importance of the "... communion of saints ..." in the Apostles' Creed throughout the day, and it was a day to thank once again God for the blessings we had received.
The Gospel of Matthew 25: 14-30 on the 33rd Sunday of the day is an analogy to Talents, but each of us already has the gift of knowing the joy of the kingdom of God. Nowadays, the Covid-19 virus tends to block our minds as well as well as having its physical restrictions. Furthermore, whilst there are less places to be happy together and the situation regarding corona will continue to wreak havoc, we can still share our Talents that we have received with everyone around us. And by doing so to seek to create a community whereby we can enjoy each other in even a small way.
We would like to express our sincere gratitude to Father Andrea and the members of the Fuchu Church for providing such an opportunity.
[Come and share your master’s happiness!] Matthew 25:21,23
I am the vine, you are the branches; he who abides in Me and I in him.
Just as the Father has loved Me, I have also loved you; abide in My love.
