Sister Rosa Tran Thi Giang, who received the grace of her first vows, is from Vietnam. She has worked hard to learn the language and customs of Japan. She has been walking with the support of her Vietnamese friends. She decorates the convent with pretty flowers to the delight of the sisters. When she did her internship at Sakuramachi Hospital, she was loved by the nurses. "I am still in the process of learning, so I pray that I will be able to serve in the hospital someday."
Sister Teresa Doyla, who received the grace of lifelong vows, is a sister from Myanmar. In Japan, she has been helped by the people of Myanmar and has received many blessings. With the love of God, she has chosen to be a sister of St. John and a consecrated person for the rest of her life.
Sister Rosalia Kurata, who celebrated her Golden Jubilee, came to Koganei with students from St. John's School to make mats with people with disabilities and to participate in "Denden Mushi," which no longer exists. She was a cheerful and kind sister and mother. Even now, I still get phone calls from old students asking me how she is doing. She is also doing church service with the support of the congregation of Fuchu Church. She loves to sing, and it is a shame that she will not be able to sing during the coronavirus period, but I am sure that when the coronavirus subsides, she will be able to sing again and bring joy and hope to those around her.
Sister Juliana Michiko Chukyo, who celebrated her Diamond Jubilee, also served at the school and then served coffee to the elderly at St. John's Home. She also enjoyed playing with children when we used to run a nursery school in Kakegawa, Shizuoka for a while. She overcame a serious illness and is dedicating her daily life as a consecrated person. When she was younger, she was more energetic and strong, but now she is a very kind and energetic Sister who is living a life of service in the community.
Both Sister Kurata and Sister Chukyo have been on the path of consecrated life for many years. Throughout the years, they have suffered, enjoyed, and most of all, God's love has been poured into their lives. It is a great joy and blessing for us to be supported by God's love and to walk the path of service with other sisters every day, even in the midst of the mundane. It is also a model and hope for our younger sisters.
We ask for your prayers for the sisters who have started their journey and for those who are still walking.
I am the vine, you are the branches; he who abides in Me and I in him.
John 15:5
Just as the Father has loved Me, I have also loved you; abide in My love.
John 9
If anyone serves Me, he must follow Me; and where I am, there My servant will be.
